Which Dunlops were the OEM tires?
I keep hearing about the disappointment with the "OEM Dunlops"... wondering which model they are talking about. Mine came with a new set of Sport Maxx 20" tires and thus far I've been nothing less than thrilled with them - on dry they've been glued to the road, quiet and when I hit a rather nasty snow storm in AZ they did me far better than the trucks in front of me did as they spun out ( I am NOT recommending anyone go through snow with them but glad they were good enough at the time). This not a thread to jump into about how bad your MPSS's were once, how much better Hankooks are, why you chose all season tires just curious as to what the OEM tires that some have not been pleased with.

That's what I thought, didn't think they went with all season Dunlop tires.... and those are the same size as mine. With 6K miles on them thus far they're wearing VERY well and stick like glue with zero road noise. Heard several talking about how displeased they were with wear and how noisy their's were. Thanks JagT

Strange, I had them on the rear when I got mine and I had virtually no grip. I talked to the tyre guys about them and they thought they might have gone hard. So I replaced them with another pair and again no grip. It isnt as though I could hear them screeching away, but the back end would wiggle and the nanny controls would kick in, and that would happen whenever I put my foot down even moderately. And for my missus too so it wasnt just me being a leadfoot.
No drama with wear or noise, though, and the ride was good.

I had a new set of Sport Maxx's fitted on my '07 XKR when I bought it.
Having traded an X350 in for it I was really impressed with the handling and the grip but found the tyres very noisy to the point where I was convinced I had a bearing issue.
The noise went away when I changed to MPSS's. I don't know how long the Dunlops would have lasted because I got a nail through the side wall on one of them so decided to change them all.
I wouldn't say that the MPSS's are dramatically better than the Dunlop's but they are quieter so I would probably go with them again.

Sport Maxx came on the car and i have replaced with the same Dunlops again. I can't see anything wrong with these tyres. My wife and i are hard drivers and these tyres cope with any condition. Ireland always seems to be wet and we seem to get the four seasons in one day sometimes, in the wet they grip perfect. Some think they're crap and as comments say they wear is not great.
Seen a documentary on tyre wear one time and a lot has to do with the type of tarmac surfaces the tyre is used on. Our roads here a far from motorway, mostly rural/urban and in some areas quite bad, the Dunlops are a good tyre to me.
