Default Dynamic Mode and TCS - Really?

Peeps, what am I missing?

1) So I have recently installed an aftermarket exhaust so I figured I don't need Dnaymic mode anymore. What all does Dynamic mode do? I heard stiffen shocks but I'm not sure I notice anything or read in the manual.

2) Regarding TCS I notice that even with it off the nannies still kick in if the car kicks sideways. Well I know how to control a drift - is there a way to defeat entirely?

Dynamic mode also makes the throttle more sensitive, in addition to the suspension and exhaust changes.
As far as DSC, there r 3 modes- normal, trac dsc (which will intervene at a greater slip angle), and off (in Xkr-s I just push the button and trac dsc comes on and if I hold it down for 5-10 sec, it is turned off completely).

What kind of logic is that? "I installed a new exhaust so I don't need dynamic mode anymore?"

The logic was that if dynamic mode primarily opened a baffle for more exhaust sound. Regarding TCS I have held down for 10 seconds and I hear the tone and see the light on the dash which says off. But if you nail it from a standstill and get sideways it still kicks in. It's like TCS Off only turns of the retardation under straight wheel slip. But if there is some sidways action the stability nannies still kick in.

Is that true?

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Seems like Octurbo was talking about an XKR-S.

Wow, I've been running around with Dynamic off since getting the exhaust thinking the primary benefit was exhaust sound. I was thinking this because when I would switch off and on when the car was stock I barely noticed a difference in ride.

But when you drive daily with it off for a week or so and then start driving with it on... Boy does it wake the car up. Throttle is definitely more sensitive. It makes the lowered height and louder exhaust feel like its more sports car than GT when I need it to be. Dynamic stays on with TCS off every time I drive from here out!

There are 3 modes for sure! At the R academy we did the road course in track dsc and the to do 360s we turned it all the way off by pushing the button again. It definitely didn't help- car was completely out of control! Make Yana ride with you when you do this, I can already hear her screaming!

Shutting down TC entirely by holding down the button for 10-15 secs is NO JOKE. The car becomes VERY scary, sideways in an instant if you nail the throttle as hard as you are used to...

Be careful!

I've had my car for a little more than a week, and this evening was the first time I tried dynamic mode. Holy ****!! It's a completely different car with that turned on. Everything tightens up, and the car explodes. So much fun, and the sound of the Mina exhaust is amazing! Like you said, dynamic mode turns this car into a sports car.

Are you running it in sport and dynamic? I have foundin my xf sc for less spirited needs D and dynamic make for less fuel use and best handling. Kick in S when you want the full package.

Now that I know what dynamic does, then I'll mostly always be in D and dynamic. I'll kick in S for brief moments of fun.

This is what I've been waiting to do with an XK(R)!!! But I'd rather do it in an R Academy car than mine . October at Las Vegas can't come soon enough!

How do you turn on dynamic mode? Does this exist on the 4.2 XKRs?
