Electric seats dont work - is there about to be bigger problems?
Im looking at a 08 xkr . He says everything works except the seats . Is that a sign of a bigger electrical problem ? If anyone has thiughts ,or if it could really only be seats , please let me know as im probably buying car at end of week . Thanks
A fairly common problem for these cars, although not super common. There are several existing threads on this already.
It COULD be as simple as having the seat modules recalibrated with a suitable tool. Or, the modules could be toast and require replacement.
It could also be something more serious, although a huge proportion of these problems are module related.
It could cost zero to have them flashed, or I don't know how much for new modules.
I think a Foxwell OBD2 scanner can flash the modules, but for sure the JLR program SDD can do it.

Still worth a check of the grounds though.
He said "module" singular - the point is there are two modules and both seats are affected.

AS others mentioned, the most common issue with these seats is they get stuck in recline and won't move forward without a reset via a compatible scan tool. Anything beyond that will likely require significantly more diagnostics. Has the interior ever flooded?
