Sacrifice the power! No, I don't want that otherwise I'll stay with the original silencer

My hunch is the lack of back pressure made the "get up and go" to "not really wanting to go". Sounded like sh** and was the biggest waste of money. I thought I could out think Larini, Quicksilver, VAP, etc... Learned my lesson. Let the experts do the trial and effort; I'll pay for their effort and engineering.

Any specific TUNE may require back pressure. ie; Tuned to match the more-restrictive airflow.

If you get a better flowing exhaust system, you also need the TUNE to utilize that better flow.
Correct!

Or If you didn't experience some loss of low end torque with exhaust upgrade, might just mean that exhaust is not any more efficient than stock and no power gained. At least that's how I see it on our Jags with Denso ECU management.

You have lost torque so the engine is no longer performing optimally, it bothers me

It's horrendous, that gawdawful noise it makes.
I agree, making a car louder just for the sake of noise is horrendous. I remember a video posted on here a while back by a guy who "enhanced" his XKR exhaust and in the video people would stop and look at his car, he thought in awe over it's magnificent sound.

I often walk my dog on the main street and hear different cars go past, trucks, mustangs, rice burners, even some cars like corolla's with obnoxious loud exhast's. I realize that when I look at them they are so proud of that crud that they think I glance in admiration. It is not!

To each his own, their car their choice. I just hate when someone else's choice assaults my senses!!!

LOL, if we were all the same life would be very dull!!! I can't claim that I haven't had my moments, when younger I always had car stereo's that were like rolling concerts. I am sure I had more than my fair share of irritated people around me. Perhaps it is unfair of me to judge what others feel is music to their ears, keep on keeping on!

Naw, there's a huge difference in having a noise that's irritating vs a noise that projects the sounds of power. Amplify a lawnmower and it's just plain irritating. Subjecting others to a condition that is horrible is a plain old douche-y thing to do.
While there are for some reason a LOT of ricers who drive near my house with modified exhaust, I can at least appreciate the ATTEMPT they made to sound cool. Even though it bugs me, I can't complain TOO much.
THAT.... ONE.... SAAB..... is just an idiot. There is NO sense to what he has noise-wise. Not a sane person on the planet would appreciate it.
There is a difference between being a noise-maker because you like something to just MAKING NOISE.

not that i don't believe it, but, i know i couldn't care less if anyone looks or not, and i've never met someone who said that's why they customized their exhaust.

i can disagree with the sound of an I4 or V6 though -- i don't think i've ever heard one made good through any amount of effort. i suspect a lot of those people like the turbo noises more than the engine.

I dont know how you got the idea that it's not performing optimally. As was said before , you need proper ECU calibration for additional exhaust flow , and boom you have power back plus some extra... Easy breezy.. I do it all the time .

OK I have the ecu reprogrammed so that there is no loss of power

Just keep in mind not many tuners know how to do these cars properly as Complicated ECU to understand. If you need someone who knows this well , you know where to find me
