Has anyone ever installed this canavie unit in their car?

android based system with Carplay on a massive screen. the picture below is from the company directly. they claim it is compatible with my car but im skeptical and dont know what the cons are here. i just purchased a 2012 xkr Cab Black on Black being delivered in a couple of weeks

Hoo boy, Cambo is sure to have a conniption fit over this one. I don't even know all the terms he's gonna say in why it won't work.

It WOULD be cool though.

I'm very wary of this product because the touchscreen controls so many different functions. I doubt that the manufacturer in Shenzen, China has actually fitted this unit in an X150, tested all the touchscreen functions, and verified that they work without any problems. It's easy to Photoshop a static display onto a Jaguar dash. Where's the video that proves everything works? What if it doesn't and fries some modules? What recourse do you have with a vendor in China? Pick a number between zero and none.

Thanks, but no thanks. I wouldn't be a Guinea pig, even if they sent me a free unit.

All of these functions in the car are software based anyway so if you can write the proper code, sure it would work. I have not yet researched this company to see how well
regarded they are but it is surprising they picked a car with such a limited market, one of the reasons aftermarket upgrades are essentially non-existent. It appears they make replacement head units for numerous makes and models.

Watch the YouTube video. Could be fake but it does show all fully functional.

Huh, maybe. There was an installation video, although brief, too.

Maybe just me but if indeed it is kosher I'd have thought it would look better on an X150 with the rotary gear knob than one with a J gate.

The J gate looks too gentlemanly to abuse with anything so brash and futuristic looking...all IMO of course

I like this mod and I'm considering it. You can find it on AliExpress for a half of a price, so worth trying (worse case scenario- I will return it).

Key concerns which I have:
- how to control all of vehicle settings (eg MPH/KMH on a dashboard)
- does it really work with entire audio system (all speakers)

Could it possibly work?

There is a considerable lack of detail for specs/features on their site so no way to know for certain but yes it is possible to do what they did and retain full functionality just no way to know that unless either they provide those details or someone is willing to be a guinea pig.

The OEM unit is a GUI running off of Microsoft Windows if that helps and the controls are CANBUS/MOST. Honestly the hardest/most expensive bit would be the custom fabrication to fit in place seamlessly.

What are your thoughts? Plug and play or a lot of mess and many features missing?

There will be no soldering to be done.
The installation is plug and play
wireless carplay

I just found hazard light feature it was not included in the video, I checked with our engineer. This feature was included definitely

looks like they are getting it either from them or the same factory at lower cost. it is canavies pictures

Also can be found here - specs seem to conflict depending on seller - one even says plays cassette tapes

As I said in my post #6, "What recourse do you have with a vendor in China? Pick a number between zero and none."

I no longer buy anything made in China, unless there is no other choice.

I bought my XKR because it is gorgeous and was designed and built for driving. Infotainment isn't a priority for me. I'm .
I enjoy my infotainment on a 65" screen from the comfort of my recliner.

Maybe we should all pitch in $5 - 10 and buy one for a test subject. IF it works we'd probably all buy one anyway.
