Only the courageous venture willingly into the unknown, for where there is risk there is also the potential for reward.
So, as I see it, Forum member peterv8 being fully aware of the risks and after much contemplation, decided to buy it because, for him, the potential functionality benefits are worth the cost. Sure, he doesn't want to lose all his money, but he's willing to take that risk. It's only money, and he can always make more of it.

So sad, no support from the supplier. The manufacture in China seems to have developed a generic framework to bang out as many units as possible to as many vehicles as possible with no support, I assume to maximize profit with minimum customization or options for the user. Without the source code it will be extremely difficult to modify the front end interface or for that matter anything. Although, the system does seem to have been engineered to extracted and hand-shake with pertinent OEM protocols to reasonably function as a complete replacement, customization by the user is not offered. I have never seen anything developed or come out of China as open source--caveat emptor. Depending on the success of the manufacture's roll-out and their business model this unit may die off once profit taking is maximized with the purchasers left in the dark. It is also difficult to review the hardware without a functioning copy on hand. My biggest concern is the lack of support and trust from the supplier.

I bought mine from ZWNAV on Aliexpress and the support is the very bad! The damage on the "wooden" frame I have asked him 3 times with pictures to solve it but he totally ignores it.

I'll message them and everyone else should message them saying this is our pilot purchase to confirm the support level for purchases to follow. I was messaging them before and never got that warm fuzzy feeling to commit to a purchase. Do you mind getting us a user name reference? I hope this works out for you.

When I was shopping for the unit, there are several suppliers. One of the forum members bought from Guangzhou Asvegen Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. Another from Navihau. They were two I had reached out to along with ZWNav and Aostar online store. I wrote the same questions regarding features to all 4. Asvegen and Aostar were quick to respond. Navihau and ZWNav didn't respond. After peterV8's post, I dropped ZWNav (thank you again).
Both Aostar and Asvegen were within $30 of each other. Asvegen said they had a 2 year warranty but I messaged them their 1 year warranty from their listing and she apologized.
Aostar has a 2 year warranty so I went with them. After they shipped, they contacted me and told me not to worry about anything. They have a "2 year warranty and professional engineer installation guidance". I didn't ask, they just sent that message.
They threw in a backup camera. I ordered Sunday and it shipped. Full refund if I don't get it by 1/14/21. I chose DHL because I've had good results with them in the past shipping from Ali Express. I bought the TMPS (internal) from them as well but placed the order later in the day so it isn't "expedited". So time will tell and I'll loop in others on the other install thread. The TPMS has a separate display but they said it will also display on the head unit.
Also, I wrote a Canavie much earlier. They are priced higher than the others when you add in shipping, etc. I mention them because it's the title of the thread. They were quick to respond but not interested in competing with the others on price point.
Here's the link to the one I bought fwiw. I have no skin in their game. If you buy, go with what you know.

Tesla size screen
My 2012 XKR cab. had many issues with the factory screen while in warranty. It now shows potential of failing again. No way I will spend the money for another factory unit. I would love to have this unit but no one seems to come forward that has actually installed one. Installation looks somewhat simple and if it is indeed plug and play it would be great. I’m not as concerned about the looks as I am about the function.
as a side note, I installed the remote top control purchased from The Jag Wrangler. It works great and has given me a lot of pleasure. There are after market products that work but it would be nice to hear at least one success story.
