Default fabricate air scoops

One of several projects I am working on is improving air intake flow on my "air pump" engine.

I saw this the other day which may be a great solution for plumbing directly to the filter boxes as well as eliminate those hideous fog lights/grilles.

Any one here have fabricating or prototyping skills or suggest a direction to take? The existing ones pop right off so it should be easy to replicate the part.

I like the front splitter too...

I suggest that you check with Chris at Mina Gallery and see if he has any interest in adding this to his inventory of performance mods.

Are those for the air box or the brakes?

Brakes. For engine I think you'll need a balance duct from one side to the other to avoid the unbalanced MAF signal CEL code. Since removing the snorkels on my stock air boxes I've gotten it twice. I figured a 3" diameter cross over duct plumbed after the air filters should work well.

I like that opening profile and I would still mount the fog lamps in the opening for improved night driving. They do make a difference.

Some Google image search shows the car was built by these guys. Maybe they have spares from 2010 sitting on a shelf somewhere.

Ah, pity. The car was a proposal that never saw the light of day. No wonder there's so little info on it.

Didn't the Palmer race XKR's have something like that on them?

Yes and others as well, but much larger and riveted. These looked to have been designed as a snap-in replacement for the originals.

I can't speak for what use they were intended, but since the air filters are right there, my idea was to plumb direct to the intakes. I already have brake cooling ducts fitted to the under carriage.

Air intakes probably, the brake ducts are under the car.

My clothes dryer has the same ducts! It must be supercharged!

Taking a look at the hose length and routing I guess I would have considered some kind of hood scoop where you can get a direct route into the S/C. Just a thought.

We don't know what's attached to the ends. Looks like the engine harness is original so I suspect there's some flavor of mass air meters at the end of the hoses.

Also note on the near side that there is a black 4" hose feeding the brakes.

Yep understand so just need to be a little creative on the MAF but as with all mods things need to be thought out and see what kind of options you have. Also maybe a scoop would be an air flow issue but just thinking out of the box. Also does the 4.2 SC use 1 MAF or 2 like the 5.0 SC. Seems like the rest of the world except Ferrari uses 1 MAF .

There are 2 which complicates things because both want to see the numbers with little room for error. This has been demonstrated when having mismatched air filters.
