Fact finding mission..
What I will add is what my car-salesman stepdad told me: for insurance purposes, there is (or used to be) a 10-1 ratio of curb weight to horsepower that affected rates. Once you crossed that line, rates went way up. So the 510-hp XKR is over that line, where the XK is not. Having owned both, I will say that matches my experience.
But there are so many variables here. When I moved to downtown LA from MID-City/Ktown, my insurance went down about $30 a month simply due to the zip code change, which was a shock given that downtown is not what anyone would call safe.
When I was judged to be 60% at fault for a minor fender-bender, my insurance went WAY WAY up. I was told that, hype aside, an at-fault accident was a stronger hit than a DUI in terms of your rates.
And, now that I'm an expert: no, a theft does not raise your rates. At all. You were not at fault.

Love my XK(2010) she is black, sleek, roars like a Jaguar when I fire her up….though she has four seats, she really is a two seater… I’m 5’9” and tried to get in the back seat(out of curiosity) my head hits the roof and my knees are in my chest…you can fit two very small adults or car seats back there comfortably or small children.
Why, with all this speculation and old wives tales being thrown around here regarding insurance, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the one about how red cars get more tickets.
PS: $74/month full coverage, 44, married, no tix (but an absolute shitload of warnings). I'm not sure what you guys consider expensive, but that's only $20 more than my Land Cruiser at the same level of coverage so to me, that's a friggin' deal for a 500+ HP car.

Well, since you brought it up. After working for a number of years as a state trooper in Missouri and being frequently asked about the "red car" conundrum I did a professional self-survey of results over a several month long period. Now this is definitely not a publishable result, however, we ( I involved several other troopers in order to glean their opinions) reached what appeared to be a logical conclusion. We noticed that there really wasn't a significant slant related to citations issued to red vehicles over other colors, however, it was noticed that the drivers of the red cars did seem to have a larger number of what could best be referred to as "aggressive" drivers. So it would seem that those people attracted to driving red vehicles were themselves more aggressive drivers thereby presenting themselves more frequently as law enforcement "targets". Good lord! I just realized I had not given this any thought for over 30+ years.
