When I purchased my 2013 xkr earlier this year it had red carbon fiber dash pieces on it. I thought a previous owner removed them and had the pattern put on using hydrographics. I intended to remove them recently and replace them with some stock burlwood pieces. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the passenger dash piece had an airbag decal and it was in the same location and same font as a burlwood piece. So I did some internet searching and didn't find much.. but I found a page from a brochure/sale catalog that shows a red, gold or gray weave as a factory option. I've never heard of this or seen it on another car.? I think I will leave it alone if it's an option and it goes well with the red console and seat stitching even though I'm not a huge fan of carbon fiber...especially fake carbon fiber. Does anyone else have this on their car?

I thought about wrapping it myself in a woodgrain. I like the rich oak look. But I'm going to leave it alone now that I found out it's an oddball option. Plus, i don't want any of the tabs breaking off when I remove them....I can't imagine what interior color the gold braid color of panels would look good on? Anyone have one of these colors on their interior panels?
This is NOT AT ALL carbon fiber, neither it intent to mimic it.
This is the original "woven"patern engraved aluminium and it's enameled (cold enameled though in this modernised technic) according to a very old and precious technic known as guilloche .
You can see it on most Faberge pieces or on late XIXth century frames, lighters, jewels, cigarette or pill boxes
The goal is to play with the light through the enamel and it works really well according to your photos...If you ever saw real carbon fiber it's totally different. Carbon fiber composite is made out of a woven carbon fiber textile as souple as your jeans or T-shirts and stratified within resin layers.
In fact when I learned my car had woven effect aluminium I was ,at first, deceived and thought about having them enameled in green .
Then I started to like the aluminium so I kept it (even though I regreat I don't have the gearshift surround in woven aluminium..does it ever existed?)... And I discovered Jaguar had something similar as what I wanted to do as an option...great minds meat.
It appear it's extremely rare. You really should keep it as it's going to be really sought after in the future.

@racerxf12004,
My XKR has the red stitching option on it and I thought the red veneer would look good in it so I went searching for the kit about a year ago. You may already know this information but I thought I would share in case you don't.
What you have installed is not a factory "option" per se; rather, it was a kit that you could order from the Jaguar accessories catalog. The part number was: C2P18931 (Aluminum Braid Veneer Kit-Red)
I say "was" because when I checked about a year ago no one had a set. Well, supposedly one dealer did but they didn't want to part with it (no idea why).
Anyway, if you ever decide you don't like it and want a change, I'd be happy to make a trade.
