Default Flashing AFS Light:does Cee Jay's trick still works?

Soon after I bought in 2020 my 2011 Jaguar XK 5.0 Coupe, I experience up to now every 2-4 months (300-500 km's) an annoying flashing AFS light and I still can get rid of it using Cee Jay's trick by smacking the headlight and shutdown/restart the car several times. I am very curious if that still is the case for those who have or had the same experience with Cee Jay's trick? If the trick sooner or later didn't work anymore for them, what solved the problem and turned out to be the cause of the flashing AFS Light?

Interesting that this issue exists on your 2010. It only happens on my 2007... when we're coming up to the time the battery needs replacing.

There is a ground on the right side on the chassis behind the shock absorber - this is a problem on the 2007-2009 models due to corrosion - not if the later models suffer from this though.

@McJag222 sounds like you may be alluding to a TSB. Was there one?

There may be a TSB Bill, I found this by fault finding my own Jag - a number of members have found the same problem. The lugs and stud into the chassis are open to the weather and getting wet over the years the lug stud corrodes. Mine sheared off completely when trying to undo the nut holding the lugs to the stud. Could be a dissimilar metal issue as well.

The stud problem causes issues with the left side headlight and the right side indicator on the fender panel.

A new TSB, on a 15 year old car? Thank god I'm not in the car business or I'd be bankrupt by now.

I've never repaired or even look for damage anywhere, but the frequency of whapping the housing has dropped a good amount. I've not had to whap any car part in almost a year.

It's worth keeping in mind that an intermittent AFS fault caused by an electrical connection or servo etc resets itself after two drive cycles, no whacking required. So if the light comes on, it will also be on the next time you start the engine but will go off the time after that. If it doesn't, it's actually broken.

I still get the flashing light on rare occasions (generally when going over a bump while driving in heavy rain) and if it is annoying me I pull over and stop/start the car twice to make it go away.
