Fob locked inside

Simple quick fix would be to:
1) Keep the fob in your pocket or purse, that way you will have it on your person, at all times, and will not lock it in.
2) The car is designed electronically so that you should not be able to lock the door with the fob inside. If this is happening, there is possibility that the battery in the fob is weak and needs to be replaced. An auto supply store will have a tester to tell you if such replacement is needed. If you can't start the car or open the door with the fob in your pocket or purse, is also an indication of a weak fob battery.
3) It might also be a good idea to check the car's battery. If it is not at peak performance, all sorts of gremlins can creep in and interfere with the car's operation
I hope I have helped a bit

I'd replace the Smartkey battery with a name brand CR2032 and check the date code on the packaging to make sure that it's fresh. Using the Smartkey, unlock the car from 10 feet away, get in and start the engine and lower the driver's window. Shut off the engine and set the parking brake. Exit the car, close the door, and remove the emergency key blade from the Smartkey, and leave the Smartkey on the driver's seat. Using the emergency key blade, lock the car from the door handle. If it beeps and won't lock, everything's OK. If it locks but doesn't beep, you have a bad Sounder but the locking system is OK. Otherwise, you have a problem with the locking system or a weak car battery. The car shouldn't lock with the Smartkey inside.
