I’m sure something like this has been posted before but…..need a license plate holder for the car I just brought into Canada. Hopefully one which doesn’t block the front sensor. Any help would be appreciated. Lots of disagreement it seems on the best product.
. Been there, done that. Actually like some others, I’ve put the plate holder covering the lower grill as opposed to placing it between the upper and lower. Plenty of earlier threads on this.
Also, as opposed to drilling holes… zip ties are my friends.
I've gone for a completely clean front end on my 2014 by filling the multiple holes of the license plate holder and having it resprayed before buying a stick on front plate.
Despite quite stringent regs here in the UK polices have advised that it still registers on ANPR
To tell u the truth,I wish i can take the tag holder off mine cause somebody drilled it on all crooked(either because they jealous of a nice looking Jag or they just plain can't do nothing right in the 1st place)and I refuse to put a tag on it to make it look even worst where you can tell its sadly out of place.Certain states don't need it and i'd rather be like those states even though i don't live in 1 of them lol
I have a Show and Go License plate holder on the front of my XKR. It works ok. Why just ok? It attaches to the bottom of front bumper and drops the already low ground clearance more. Given that, it is prone to scraping. You can buy it off of Amazon.
@Hans Amstein , The height of the North American plate is greater than the EU plate. It just doesn’t fit as nicely as in your case. @ralphwg , I remember you doing that. And I do like how it tucks away. Unfortunately Those without a front plate are targeted by the authorities…. ask me how I know.
As I had a spare rear plate mount for the LR (also sourced on crapazon) I used it to secure the front plate to the lower grill. Someone here gave me the idea of using zipties. Probably the most solid solution is Hans’.
Porsche guys often use a license plate mount that attaches to the factory tow hook location. Remove the cover, attach the mount, and you are good to go. Like this
Oh well, not a race car driver, never owned a Porsche, Honda, or BMW, but 7 years ago I put a tow hook bracket on my XK to use as an interim solution until I figured out a better way.
The bracket is still there, and finding a better solution has fallen way down the life’s priority list…
I live in MD, which requires front license plates. I got my front plate holder from Sly Brackets, it is really nice. It screws through the mesh grille, so no drilling. And it doesn't block any of the parking sensors. It's a little pricey, but I'd recommend it.
