Default Fuel temp sensor

I had my fuel rail pulse dampeners removed by the shop in Texas and now I've got a CEL and the code says its the fuel temp sensor. I checked the connection again so I guess it didn't enjoy Texas. I found a document online that goes over the engine ecm and it doesn't even mention the sensor. Does anyone know what the ecm uses the signal for? I'd guess its usually just ambient air temp give or take so not sure what it's for. They're $30 on fleabay so one should be here next week.

Thank you!

Be real handy to know what flavor X150...

In general, fuel atomizes and burns differently depending on the temp so some processors want to know what the fuel temp is to compensate for it.

After replacing the sensor and going through two tanks of fuel it doesn't seem to make any difference here in Seattle although it does keep the cell light off.
But I swear my fuel economy got worse after rebuilding the fuel rail and servicing the fuel injectors. With 60k miles the injectors were blocked 8 to 15 percent and that's about how much fuel economy I've lost.

Check fuel trims.

If they're now good, have finished relearning, economy will be OK unless there's a fault.

Poor injection just means it'll see it and lengthen the inj on time to compensate.
