although I have not experienced this phenomenon, I have read the peril of others and aside from using a Carcoon or other type of car bubble, fabric softener sheets stuffed between cable runs or voids seem to help ward off the pesky varmints! I am sure others will chime in with some additional methods of eradication.

I can say, the dryer sheets do not work, at least on those invading my rides. I even found evidence of them in the hood liner of the XJR and signs of them having munched on the firewall insulation. But alas! I think, I've found a solution.....? Moth *****. I purchased small tupperware or any small plastic container with a lid. Punch holes in the lid and fill with 3-4 *****. I placed them under the seats in the tire well and glove box. When I found discovered their presence in the hood liner, I placed a few in there and in a few of the nooks and crannies of the engine bay. Since last summer, it seems to work. However, during the hot summer, I could smell the presence of moth ***** when I walked near the Jag. The only evidence, they were under the seats was the container would sometimes shift and one could hear it. But, it's not that noticeable and the smell is not detected. It depends on the number in the container, I guess. Also, I guess one has to explore the long term affects of being exposed to the chemicals in an enclosed cabin. This, I haven't yet done.
Hope this helps another car owner.

Rodents are an issue, living in a 100+ year old farm surrounded by woods. Plus I store my Jaguar in a garage for 6 months out of the year. So far I have been successful at keeping them at bay with these steps.
1. Clean the interior thoroughly, and never eat in the car.
2. Moth ***** under the hood and in the trunk, put them in a container with holes, they stain.
3. Mouse Traps around the interior perimeter of the garage.
4. A well fed Barn cat on patrol
5. My favorite, a Rat zapper, placed under the car.
Score so far this winter:
Mouse traps: 1
Cat: 1
Rat Zapper: 2
The first year we lived here, we had damage to both cars, until we got the zapper which caught over 30 mice and haven't had any issues since. I have no affiliation with the product.

I park my fun cars on a lift and place "decon" mice packets around the car. I also have one of those electronic mouse hi-frequency devices plugged in. Also place Decon packs around the garage. I find I need to replace the garage packs every 2 days at the beginning of the cold season but after 3-4 weeks that diminishes and it goes to once a week. By the way the packs on the lift never get depleted.

it's covered on your comprehensive policy
Jagtoes, I was in Manhattan a couple years ago, sitting at a light at 3am. I rat crawled out of a sewer grate and walked across the street. I estimate he was 25 to 30 pounds. You don't need moth ***** my friend, you need a swat team with sharp shooters.

I have to add a comment to my original "critter" litter post......
Sometime in the mid 70s, I winterized my E-Type outdoors....When spring was upon us, I threw off the cover opened the passenger side doors, only to find a momma cat had taken up residence in the passenger foot well......and was caring for her litter. I did not ask any questions, only softly closed the door, placed the cover back on...yes I left the window down. I waited a few weeks, or so. She could not have picked a better home to have her kittens, me thought.
