Default Getting a baseline dyno questions

I'm getting a baseline dyno in the morning on my V8S and wondered if anyone had some thoughts or lessons learned in doing this. I've posted this in the F Type forum also but I know there is a lot of Jag experience here.

I'm thinking a 4th gear run with traction control off with Dynamic mode on.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Walt

In the past we pulled two fuses out one for the dynamic diff and one for the ABS pump. I can't remember the fuse numbers off the top of my head but they are in a thread here.

I would have the F-Type dynoed out in full stock condition. No mods, no fuse pulling, no changes in weight. Unless your going to track the car, the dyno will provide maxium HP at a Max RPM level based on what you drive everyday. It is nice to know where the power bands are for your car, and the dyno will do it.

If your planning on tracking the car, then some mods might be benefical to the end result, but not much.

It is always fun to determine the final results of your own car.

In order to dyno you have to pull at least one fuse (I can't remember which one) to shut down the DSC. If your Dyno guy has a person at a local dealer he should call him, he will be able to tell him which fuse it is. If that doesn't work for you, here is the contact info for the dyno shop I used. HK Motorsports Dyno Shop 15020 Oxnard St., Unit A, Van Nuys, CA 91411. Tel 818-908-9650. SApeak with Harry Kodanian. Tell him Ralph with the Black 12 XK vert told you to call. Good luck!!

Anyone ever get clear info on what needs to be done to put an XKR on a dyno? I've always just held the traction control button down until everything turned off on previous vehicles. It would seem to me to do the same thing in this vehicle by holding down the DSC button until it says off. I want to get a baseline run before adding a smaller pulley to the supercharger, and then later having a tune put in.

The F-Type dyno process should be the same as the XKR. The Fuse panels I believe have the same layout. Thus Fuse #20 should be a 40amp fuse for the DSC (Verify). You would remove this so that DSC doesn't kick in. During the pull. Running on an all wheel dyno is ideal, but a rear wheel works fine with the pulls I've done with this method.

If driving to the dyno, let the car cool for a bit before you do the pulls.

Regards,

Derek Fricke
