Default Got a note from my dealer

I just got a note from my dealer telling me he just got in a new 2016 F-Type R AWD convertible and asked me to stop by for a test drive. I have to bring the XKR in for a top switch recall so I'll take them up on the drive. I already know that it is to small for me but what the hell I'll give it a go. Won't be up there for a few weeks but I'll let you know how it was. Anyone else tried one of these?

Yes at the Jaguar Performance Driving Academy at the Sonoma Raceway. And also had one for a weekend from Jaguar. It is a great sports car, it is not a GT and I wouldn't be interested in it for a road trip. Anyway, go enjoy it and let us know your opinion Vs the XK.

I've been wanted to test drive a couple of F-Type models. People know I have owned Jag's for a while, so they (and I) am expected to have first hand knowledge of the their new models...

I got a chance to drive the R-S coupe at intro. The good? Drop dead looks. You'll need a cold shower and a cigarette afterwards. Acceleration? Think millennium falcon. Exhaust noise is intoxicating. Brakes are epic. Steering feel is brilliant. The bad? The ride is...firm. The rear springs/anti-roll bar setup is way too stiff. Too much over steer. I un-intentionally drifted it twice. Less room than an XKR. Infotainment is better but still behind. The ride would be tough on a trip on anything less than glass smooth roads. It's a Jag. Wait a few years and buy a used one with 25k miles for a 1/4 the price. Getting the power on the road is a challenge. The AWD will be interesting.

But I loved it!

My 2 cents.
