The shield is glued down?... another great idea. Thanks for the info. Where I'm stopped ( and yes the manual doesn't describe it well) is trying to get the Air chargers off and the Supercharger out so I can change the dreaded hose..... The two hoses on the back of the air chargers are 2 inches long and both go into a plate attached at the back of the SC. Can't find a way to get to the bolts there... or along the intake manifolds after the SC.

You are reading page 1823 of the X150 service manual? Follow the sub instructions (which can be a PITA to find). Hit CTRL F to bring up the search box in the PDF and search the word description or sub section numbers.

I haven't been down this road yet so I can't add much more. Looks like the charge coolers need pulled as well as the coolant pipe up front. From looking at pictures on Google (search AJ 4.2l Eaton) there are three mounting bolts that hold the blower to the engine. Don't get frustrated, Google everything and don't be afraid to search the XJ and S type subforums as well. Same engine.

The blower is over the suspect hose and can't get to it. Bolts for the Coolers not accessible. Somethings gotta come apart, but what and how? Presently only my brain is coming apart...

Yeah, I've read page 1823 several times.... not enough info. Bolts/Screws not accessible. I Need to come up with a plan "B" (other than explosives)....

Air coolers need the blower removal first. Follow page 1825, then 1829

since I was stopped cold and couldn't access the bolts... a friend suggested pulling the hose thru under the blower. I took another hose of same ID and OD, pushed a barb fitting in between the two hoses and pulled the old blown hose out. Once I get a new hose I hope to pull it back in. We'll see! If this works it would make it unnecessary to tear the engine apart. I plan to replace the hoses that look in danger of failure.

Next question.... while I'm in there should I replace the water pump?

Thanks for all the help guys....

Coin toss imo. The 5.0 Liter engines have water pump problems, not the 4.2 Liter. I guess it depends on what mood you're in and what you had to tear out to access it. I'm in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp.

No just the one as I recall. Here are a couple of links from a gent that did his on his X350 (same engine) but maybe a few differences around his trim comments.

Big thanks to Ngarara for posting the manual! Lots of good info there, once you figure out how to navigate through the 4000 pages

There are some sections missing. You'll eventually not find which ones. Ctrl F is your friend.

The missing element that annoys me the most is: part no.s. However, I guess a lot would go out of date. But for someone like me, who wants to understand how the damn thing works, without necessarily taking a spanner to it, the manual is great.

Also, search out the electrical manual as well. Those wiring diagrams are invaluable.

Well gang, It's all back together. No extra parts. There appeared to be two hoses under the supercharger. One Coolant, one looked like a vacuum hose. Car runs great!
Can't thank you all for the guidance. Thanks so much.
