Gremlins moving in to my 2007 XK?
The car is not responding to the fobs (new battery and it initially worked after replacing), cruise control not available warning on screen, passenger door has to be unlocked manually. Could all these things have something in common? Have to start the car by placing fob in console and that doesn’t feel like a long term solution. Help please! This is my daily driver and my wife is still mad about me trading for it.
Use a voltmeter to check the available voltage across the battery terminals with the ignition in the OFF position for 30 minutes or longer. There should be a minimum of 12.6 volts available, if not, charge the battery for five hours at 2 to 5 amps and retest.
If the voltmeter indicates less than 12.6 volts available, the battery is suspect and should be replaced. The vehicle needs at least 12.6 volts available for all systems to function properly.
Many of the electrical 'gremlins' chased across these forums are the result of a failing or weak battery.
