That's the diaphragm for the exhaust valve , it looks to have been blocked off and permanently left in the 'open' position.

Look at it and see if you can fix it yourself. Usually by looking at it and getting your hands in there should tell you how it goes on and if your competency level is up to speed you should succeed.

A diagram may help understand where it should be (item 3):

I managed to place it back but it isn't secure, the other side seems to have a metal housing around it. What part do I need to order?

Non secure side

Left hand side of the car with some sort of housing

I thought that metal housing secured the valve to the bracket attached to the exhaust pipe, so yeah, I don’t think it will stay there by itself.
Here’s a top view from a 4.2L valve:

And from another angle (kind of fuzzy from zooming in):

You may be able to come up with some kind of cap for the valve with some "MacGyver" fix

New ones look pricey:

Thanks for that additional info and pictures I will take her down to a Jaguar dealer as this is above my pay grade in terms of a fix.

An exhaust specialist may be cheaper, closer and just as good. Just a thought

Disconnecting the apparatus as opposed to just removing the fuse. hmmm.
However, I'd MacGyver it too.
