I added it to my 2008 Portfolio a couple of weeks ago. You need a kit called the Audio Connectivity Module (ACM). It adds RCA jacks, a USB port and IPOD connector. The kit retails for around 285.00, but can be found at a discount from a forum sponsor. If you do the install, you still need the Jag dealer to apply an IDS update for it to be recognized. There is a thread in the forum with some details on the install.

I also have a 2008 XKR Portfolio

Can you tell me the store you bought it from I have family in Dallas and Houston. Does it show up on your Nav screen and did you install it yourself.

Here is a link to the installation instructions if you want to see if it is something you want to attempt.

Just added the ACM to my 2008 XKR Portfolio this week. Works Great, had my tech leave about 12" of the cable in the center console so I can leave my iPhone out to control tunes and still get phone reception. By the way works great with BlueTooth phone at the same time. I hate that the display always show a picture of RCA jacks when you are in aux mode.

I just got the dealer to fit and ACM in my 2008 XKR, with the idea that I could have my entire music collection on a USB stick instead of having to keep swapping CDs. I wish I'd have saved my $750. Its useless.

I was amazed to find when playing music from USB it doesn't display a track list (or anything) on the screen, so the only way to find a particular track is to keep stepping through and listening to see if the one that starts playing is what you're looking for. You can imagine how well (NOT) that works with a USB with 2000 songs on it. I couldn't believe Jag would expect people to think something so hokey isn't just insultingly outrageous, especially on a premium brand car.

Before anyone suggests it, I had considered buying an ipod just for the screen (the ACM doesnt even display anything when playing from ipod either). but much of my music is ogg files, which is a format the ACM supports, but Apple doesnt.

In my last Jag I installed an after-market bluetooth kit (motorola TK30). It cost $130. Not only could it do bluetooth handsfree phone, it played stuff from USB (with a track list) and it could read back incoming SMS text messages using a voice synth. It only cost $130 yet the 'premium' system in my XKR sucks by comparison. Jaguar STRONGLY need to get a clue about this stuff.

LP30, can you send me the info on where to purchase the part?

DD823, I'm in Houston. Did you get a price on a dealer here to do the install?

on eBay you can get a little transmitter gizmo that plugs into the iPod's wide jack mand broadcasts to a low fm frequency - it costs under $20 and it works. Looks like half of a tootsie roll

Default IPhone works through car system 2009 XK

Rick,
Your recommendation works very well and the total cost was only $70.00 at Radio Shack. They have cheaper ones but this one from AUVIO has some good features.
- Charges I Phone when in use
- Auto scan for a clear frequency
- Programmable presets for up to three commonly used stations
- App download to help give extra features.
Again thanks for the recommendation... I can now hear Pandora and when I receive a call can still use the cars Bluetooth.

You're right, the ACM is too expensive for what it delivers. I have it in my '07 XK to allow the addition of Sirius (mine did not have the factory option). There is another catch using this, you must move a switch on the ACM unit to switch between USB and iPod sources. Worse if you use the RCA connection, you must unplug it when you use the USB or iPod. The only good feature is that you can change tracks or albums using the steering wheel controls when listening to the iPod, not the other sources. Lastly there is absolutely no display on the screen for anything, just the graphic of RCA jacks when in AUX mode.

I added the factory ACM to my '08XK. It's a waste of money ($600 installed by the dealer). No playlists display on the screen. Just a picture of RCA ports when playing from the iPhone.

I added a Kuda mount and a DICE passthrough dock to my ACM and I can see what is playing and easily control my iPhone.

There is a thread here somewhere with pics if you search for it.
