Default Hello All

This Saturday I will be picking up my '12 XKR that i just purchased. This will be my first time back in a leaper since my S-Type in '03.

Suggestions on things I should be looking at or checking out as I take delivery?

Cheers,

Congrats, make sure and post pic's after you take delivery. Are you buying from a dealer or individual...are you getting a pre-purchase inspection?

Good luck, they are great cars.

Welcome back to the Jaguar world. The main problem with 5.0l xkrs is with the water pump which are notorious. If you don't get a pre-purchase inspection be on the look out for water pump issues and perhaps replace all the fluids. Brake fluids are to be replaced every two years. And finally post pics please.

I recommend you go into the purchase with your eyes wide open and don't get buck fever. Make sure all the bells and whistles work, no odd noises or smells. Also make the time to read back through this forum 20-40 pages for interesting subjects. You'll be an more informed buyer that way and understand some of the car's idiosyncrasy's.

Welcome back. Make sure you check the condition of your right foot as it will be getting quite a bit of exercise as you explore just how quick the beast that you just bought really is. Enjoy!

Learn the proper British terminology for operation of your XKR. Your right foot controls the exhilarator pedal and causes ear-to-ear grins. Watch out for blue lights in your rearview mirror. You're gonna love it! You're not alone - it is normal to look in your garage before going to sleep.

Good advice from Ranchero50 to read the last 40 or so threads on this Forum. Lots of valuable information and helpful members. Get a CTEK battery maintainer to minimize electrical gremlins and enjoy the ride!

Default Thanks!!!

thanks everyone for the warm welcomes and suggestions.
I have had some fun and crazy cars a few Beamers (M3, M6 and a 5 series), a few Mercedes (Slk, S600, SL600, ML) and a Bentley Continental GT Mulliner and of course the
S-Type.
I am looking forward for the combo luxury sport in this and will certainly be posting pics and updates.
It's a convertible so i am purchasing with the intent this will be my summer toy. I was looking at an XKL portfolio executive but the one I had my eyes set on was swept out form under me before i "leaped" on it.
Il prob still make that move in the fall as I do enjoy my luxury sedans and road trip with my kiddos.
I am in Maryland so anyone in MD, PA, DE or VA I'd love to meet up!!
cheers!!

Welcome jfruhing!

I made a recent purchase (first Jag) a few months ago. A 2008 XKR convertible with 39K miles on it. I became very impressed with the brand and model. Luxury, fast, technology, drop dead gorgeous styling... a manufacturer being able to create a machine that combines all this is most impressive. I landed on a 420HP car and am quite satisfied. I can tell you that I will be considering a 2010+ as an upgrade. There is no substitute for HP and you, my friend will be enjoying 510 of them...and doing it in comfort and style. Congrats. Let us all know everything about it.

Post as much as you can about this car. I will be placing the 08 XKR Conv on the market in the fall and looking at a low mileage 2010+ as upgrade. Enjoy it.
