Default Help - Vulcan rim color code

Hi all, I want to repair some scratches on my rims, but I can't find the exact color code anywhere. This is for a 2012 XKRS with anthracite rims. It try several anthracite touch up pen, but none matches exactly. If already one is available it 'll be cool.

Thanks

I have asked the same question before and no one seemed to know the answer. There is a Toyota color that is very close but not perfect. It looks good from 6 feet away. If you want perfection, I think you will have to get them all refinished.

Thanks Mufc no need for perfect matching for minor scratches. Did you have the exact color code for the Toyota Color ?

Tafar, you said you tried several touch-up pens - did you try the Jaguar anthracite pencil? This one is sold by Rimmer Bros., but cannot be air-shipped due to UK restrictions (I think). Perhaps this is available closer to you.

Thanks Bill. Yes it helps ans i found the same color code in France made by other paint brands (with a lower price). But it seem that it's more a paint code for the cars than for the rims. Anyway I'll test theses two

Tafar, I agree but this is the closest I could find based on your statement that the color of the rims is anthracite. I've seen a description elsewhere of the rim as "charcoal" but could not find a paint called that. Perhaps it's just a careless description.

Could be. Here is Tafar's wheel compared to an F-Type wheel painted in Technical Gray Metallic, which can be found here. IMO, the Technical Grey looks lighter, but it's hard to compare two photos taken under different conditions.

I think Bill it just depend on lighting condition. Here's the same rim.
It's taken from a series of XKR-S vidéos made by Quick Shift TV

I've got a set of (what I believe to be) anthracite vulcans without wheels on in my conservatory awaiting C5 wheel armour coating and having rubber fitted to them next week.

Are there any codes I can get off them...albeit they may have been re-powder coated in a completely different colour?

Light is hitting them at that angle from above they look completely black...my understanding was technocal grey was lighter and obviosly grey from all angles

Tafar, I agree that the new photo you posted looks much closer to the Technical Gray Metallic photo. In any event, good luck in finding the right color!

Any updates on this topic? I'm also looking for the best matching touch up paint.

Thanks!

If you're not the original owner and don't know everything that's been done on your car, odds are that the wheels have been refinished at least once in a non-original color.

Finding the best match touch up paint is by trial-and-error.

Or have all 4 refinished in the color of your choice, and get some touch-up paint from the refinisher.

Have a set of Vulcans in original color, but they have some dents. Don't want to repaint them, as original color looks very good and overall condition is quite good.
