Default Hood Struts

My hood struts have gone kaput. They don't look too expnesive. Are they easy to replace or is some special tool, hardware needed?

Default Easy Fix

Check out: 2000-2014 Jaguar XKR Hood Strut - Rhino Pac 6585 - - PartsGeek.com. They're about $30 and easy to install.

Thanks, ordered and on the way. Hopfully, it is as easy as you say. The shop manual is pretty vague.

Default 2 Guys Work Best

If you have a friend help you, it makes it easier and safer. If both struts need to be replaced because the 2 together won't hold the hood up, have someone hold the hood up while take off the first strut and install its replacement. Ditto on the second strut. And, when you close the hood, always hold it in the middle or you'll often get only one side to latch but not the other side.

Really an easy job. Took all of 5 minutes. What a difference. You lift the hood up about a foot and the struts take over. It almost looks electric. It is a little harder to close now.
