Default How accurate is the electronic time in your XK/R?

I am losing at least 1 minute every two to three weeks. My battery checks out strong- which makes sense since it is only 5 months old.

This is not a real big issue, but it's interesting given that the system is electronic and should not be losing time. I had to "add" 2 minutes to the time this morning (reset the clock). I am gonna start tracking this.

I have never adjusted the time since I owned it and seems pretty acurate. What are you measuring the time against? How accurate is that device?

Rodney,

My clock also runs a little slow compared to my Droid smartphone, which I know is accurate. I've reset it s few times - not a big deal. I keep my car on a battery tender and always lock the doors so I'm sure it's always fully charged.

Maybe I need to drive faster to synchronize my clock...

Stuart

I drive my car everyday. So this may be something systemic after all. Not a huge deal as you say, but curious none-the-less.

Gonna check with my local Jag dealer/service advisor and see if there's anything they have on record for this. I don't remember the 07 I had doing this...

Mine loses about the same and then seems to settle down. I say that because if it was a linear error Id be about half an hour off by now and that's not the case. As stated no big deal but there does seem to be a pattern here. I noticed it as soon as I got the car. It's the first car I've had that's been this far out.

It seems odd that they don't sync the clock with the time from the GPS.

Mine does it too. I thought it odd that it's not linked to the Radio time signal or GPS. PITA having to reset every week or so. Perhaps there's a fix?

My '07 XK Coupe speedo is 4 mph slow! so I drive a little faster and solved the problem!!
I think driving across the equator may help your clock or why not just look at your wrist watch with one eye and the other on the road!

Cheers, Adrian

Yep my speedo does the same thing. And your right, I have a wrist watch that keeps pretty good time. ...granted I didnt buy the car because i heard that it kept time really well, however the amount i spent on it, i guess I kinda just expected it would!?

the only visually annoying this is that the dash clock is displayed to point just before the 12 mark.. while the big screen is fully on the 12.. it's not a difference in full minutes.. but it's just enough to make you think.. isn't 12:00 not 12 on both screens??
