Default How to Address Adaptive Headlight by Changing Module?

Hello,

So my 07 XK has an adaptive headlight that isn't working properly - it lights up but is pointed down and to the left.

Wow are they expensive - even on Ebay. I have read some posts about changing out the module to address the adaptive headlight issue.

How does one change out the module and where are they found?

Thanks for any advice/help!
Hank

Hi, the AFS (adaptive front lighting system) module is located on the back of the headlight. Basically, one removes for small screws and unplug the module. However, looking at my '08, it looks like you'll need to remove a few items to get at the module. Hope this helps.

When I bought my XKR, it was several days before I drove it at night. That is when I discovered that the left light was working fine but the right one was pointed down and to the right. There were no warning lights on or codes set. I removed the right headlight assembly. (3 bolts, wiring harness and headlight washer hose) The AFS carrier is mounted to a ball on the vertical and horizontal actuators. In my case, the carrier had come off the ball on the vertical actuator. I snapped the carrier back on to the ball mount and buttoned it all back up. As much pressure as it took to snap the carrier back onto the ball, I can't imagine how it got off to begin with but I've never had a single problem from it since the fix. Covers #7 and #11 in the attached picture twist off counter clockwise. Once removed, you can look around inside and see the carrier and actuator mounting points. Be sure to put the covers back on tight to prevent entry of dust and water.

Wow, why wasn't this post around about 2 years ago when I had the same problem and bought an expensive headlight? Good advice for the future.
