How rare are convertibles in Caviar?
I would love to get my hands on one, but I have not seen any for sale. I have seen some coups with this color.

probably search under black colour, as it does look black most of the time until the light hits it at certain angles.

Thanks for the pic, so the elusive colour does exist in convertibles. I am sure it turns some heads.
Lots of XK/XKR in black, greys, blue, green, red and white colours that for sure. I guest purple is not what most most people will choose so yeah very rare.
Black, White, Grey, Silvers... we all think of a neutral or standard, but they DO spark associations in peoples' minds too. We just don't hear much what those associations are.
On the other hand, "plumb", "dark cherry", "plain emerald green", "pink" or "salmon", "toy car blue"... are risky. Even when the color looks GREAT on that model car, some people can't appreciate the car as much because they pop a certain notion (usually negative or limiting) about the unseen driver who picked THAT color. And people tend to blurt out or mumble what association is in their minds. I can't explain why that is... but it just is, from culture to culture.
The makers know this too... which I suspect is why these colors I've listed above DON'T get called by their obvious names. And the maker never leaves the poor color to sit stable in the sun---they make sure it's mixed with enough flecks and reflective metals to alter its color in different lighting.
Example:
I admire dark purplish color on small sports cars, especially European makers, but here in the Northeast US, regular goofballs will still walk by and suggest the color is "not masculine enough".
What?!!! I say those dopes need to boil their heads. It's up to a person to decide and determine his masculinity if he wants. It's not up to his car color.
If I wanted a Miata convertible, I'd leap at the chance to get it in the color shown in your picture. Yet to me this Jag is too long a snout to "need" a cherry or plumb color. That's MY weird color notion...
Man I want to kick these companies in the *** for not taking down cars that are sold just to get traffic to their sites. I would have pulled the trigger on this one in a second.

It's also just the customer's fortitude. It's available--it's just not buyable in two weeks like the black or silver or etc. It's not as though they are falsely advertizing to us.
I learned in a short electronics advisor job I once had, that a salesman's assignment is to sell the STOCK, not to rack up a long list of 5-week special orders while our warehouse is jammed full. With that fact, I knew NOT to rely on a car salesman to give you what you want. Use him only to access the things your own research can't get for you, and EXPECT a special feature or color you want will mean ordering special and waiting while the other blokes are already driving around in their black convertibles. (heheh, which is exactly what will MAKE your car so special when you get it 4 months later. ONLY five other people in your part of the country will have one-----hehehehehe-HAHAHAHAH!!!!)
Fortitude gets you beyond the salesman who wants to unload yet another SILVER car on you from his lot, and gets you THAT Caviar jewel!

...and It's got a black interior. Personally, I think what kills cars in colors like purple is that they're often paired with white or tan interiors, which highlights the unusualness (not a word?) of the color. Black interiors take it down. Saw an XKR-S in green with the charcoal interior and a black Pack, and that car looked fierce. The interior kind of darkened the green, especially with the black accents. It was great.
