Default How to remove pedestrian crash system

Can I have a how to on removing the pedestrian crash protection system without having a warning light. or message on the dash, have SSD and Mongoose

have current fault codes, right front sensor fault and high resistance on right hand catch airbag

I sell airbag resistors so no worries about working on airbag systems and have loads of different resistances available and run a Mini Garage so OK with the spanners.

Thanks in advance

This is an INTERNATIONAL forum with membership from around the World.

The topic of Pedestrian Protection System has previously been discussed in several of our model forums (including this one) as it is fitted almost everywhere except on the US specification models.

Steve,

You will find a lot of discussion of the PPS on our and other forums.

A truly horrendous and unreliable addition, it was required to allow the car to pass UK and European safety standards. Without it, Jaguar would have been forced to raise the bonnet line of the XK and ruin the design.

The usual cause of problems is failure of one or both of the sensors behind the front bumper. This is my 2007 XK. The original pattern sensor on the right was replaced with the "improved" design on the left which is considerably less prone to failure.

SDD will give the relevant codes if a sensor is at fault.

Most forums are reluctant to discuss removing or disabling the PPS because, where fitted, it is mandatory safety equipment for type approval. When I read your post, I recalled another forum where disabling PPS had been discussed and a work around posted but the thread is no longer there so I assume the moderators have considered the possible consequences of allowing it to remain.

Hi have Right hood latch deployment control circuit resistance above threshold and also right front cash sensor internal failure, so will replace the sensor and clean connectors on the airbag to start then, if that sorts out the faults great, if its a airbag fault no matter as i intend to fit resistors to replace the airbags ( will leave unit in place to maintain OE look) before they do £5K of damage to the car, seems they happily go off for no good reason, pedestrian protection fault is not a MOT failure according to my local MOT as the SRS warning light is not on.
