Default Impressed on MPG

Well I ran through my 1st tank of gas yesterday but due to the newness of the car I got 250 miles on the tank. Last night was my golf league night so I filled it up and drove it to the club. This is a 25 mile drive on a parkway road (55mph). I set the CC at 60 and let it go and watched as the mpg readout changed. This road was hills and valleys so not all flat. Read out went to 24.1 and when I hit the parking lot it came down to 23.6. Made the return trip to home and as I pulled into the garage it was at 23.1. Now I didn't buy this car with the concern of mpg but was impressed with these results. I have a 4 hr road trip later this year to friends of ours in PA. which will be 70-75 mph interstate roads . It will be interesting to see what those results will be.

My XKR-S sits at 20.3MPG after 2,000 miles on it including spirited weekend drives with car clubs. On the highway at about 70MPH it can cruise at about 22MPG.

As long as you stay out of the boost the mileage is pretty good. Its the boost and required extra fuel that kills the MPG.

i have my 2007 xkr a week now and read out shows between 17.5 and 19, i 'm blameing the exhaust, can't help giving extra trottle, i'm in boost range all the time, the sound is amazing,,it's an upgrade full system, not sure what make, xkr-s sound, wife went to work in it yesterday and i could hear it even a mile away and by the sound i'd say it was boost all the way.

How can one stay out of the boost?? That's one of the exciting pieces.

Highway mileage isn't bad at all with these cars. I drive out to Vegas and back a few times per year and usually get around 23 or so. And that's pretty good considering the average speeds out in the middle of the desert

LOL and yep you got that right. It's a matter of self control to keep your foot out of the throttle. My bride drove it when we 1st got it and got into it for a few seconds and you know what those results are. One of my kids came down yesterday and she also got into it and said now she can't go back to her A4. So have fun but don't wreck it.
