Default Increase supercharger whine?

Has anyone come up with a way to increase the supercharger whine on the 5.0? On my STS-V it was as simple as adding a non-restrictive intake, smaller pulley, and then I went a step further and sent the blower out to be ported.

Smaller pulley and changing the exhaust that removed the two forward resonators did it for me. Now it sounds like a jet accelerating under load at 4k RPM and up. That wasn't the desired effect but I'll live with it.

Setting aside why you might want to do such a thing, the short answer is it won't ever sound like the STS-V does, primarily because the insides of the supercharger are way different.

The 5.0 uses a version of the Eaton TVS series, which has a screw type compressor design, which is not only more efficient but also quieter. The STS-V used a Gen5 Eaton M122, so the old, less efficient and noisier design.

That in mind, doing what MaximA suggests will give you more sound. Pulley, removing resonators from the intake tube, and open up the exhaust so it breathes better.

I really don't understand it all. For 100 years Engineers have been working to reduce/eliminate super charger/turbo charger noise/whine. Now that they got it mostly licked or at least refined, along come you guys with sawzall modifications.
It must be a generational thing. My 05 XJR had it about right. I knew the supercharger was there and working at appropriate times but only those with an exquisitely tuned ear, such as mine , were tuned into it.

I must admit the lack of supercharger noise was a surprise to me when I upgraded from the 2004 X100 XKR but the performance more than compensates - and that exhaust crackle ....

Remove the sound insulation from the hood. Costs nothing, and it may help. I drove my XJR with the hood removed ,and the supercharger noise was quite noticeable.

I'm 28. No one on the planet can deny that every head will turn in amazement of 500+hp of supercharger whining under load. Heres my STS-V:

Oh sorry I forgot to answer your question as I was listening to the video 3 times. I have not heard of a XKR with SC whine at that level or a way to do so. I don't know the technical details between the two such as impeller speed, length etc which all have an affect on the sound. I do believe the Caddy has a different generation S/C then what is in the Jag so that may not be possible. That being said I can hear more wine from mine now then stock but no where near that level.

Smile Whiny jag

If you put the smallest pulley on possible you will get more of a whine from the blower cause it will spin at greater rpm's. If you put a 3 on the blower you will have to do other mods including cooling the blower further and grinding the snout. u would probably need a Killer Chiller to do it also. Plus you will need tune cause the ecu wont allow the increase boost from the blower without popping off. Why not just put a Dyer 8-71 blower on it and you will get all the whine you want!!

The issue is the Eaton TVS 1900 blower; it's specifically designed to be low-noise, which increases refinement and that's what most XKR owners want. The M112 used on the 4.2 is louder. So you're starting from a low base level with the 5.0 - you can increase it, but I doubt you'll get the 'hot rod' effect.

An intake will significantly increase the noise.

Any chance of a video showing this?
