Default Instrument Cluster

Hi all
I’m a new owner of 4.2 XK Convertible 2008 reg. Very chuffed with the car. It is replacing a X100 XKR convertible and it feels a big step up in handling, comfort and space.
I have an issue with the instrument cluster, specifically the middle bit showing the fuel gauge and trip computer stuff. Sometimes it is so dark you can hardly make it out and other times nice and bright.
I have found a company called Autotronics who say they can repair it for about £200.I have to remove it and send it off to them.
I was wondering if anyone has had this done by them or anyone or if there are any fixes to try?
Thanks

Why not type Autotronics in the search box in the upper right hand corner and see what comes up? Do they warrant (guarantee) the work? If so, for how long? That should be an indicator of their confidence in their work.

@Madness the above should be helpful, as the above auto electricians are in the UK.

How did I find them so quickly? I assumed that someone on this Forum already used Autotronics, and Googled this: Jaguar Forums "Autotronics" UK

Thanks for that. Autotronics have been very helpful and communicative so I will give them a go.
I just wondered if anyone has solved this problem with a diy fix worth trying?

Sometimes messing with either/both the Automatic Headlights and the Dash Dimmer Switch helps a lot.

For a DIY repair, you can try refilling your wiring harness.

Thanks but that part of the display does not react to the dimmer. Only the dials do.
I’m wondering if cleaning up the connectors might help? As the problem is intermittent.
Its’s obviously not a common problem with the forum members!
