XKR Instrument cluster reprogram expensive?

I've seen a few tempting XKRs in my area, but they have this issues, instrument cluster needs reprogramming. Is this really expensive to do? Does it hide potential issues with the car?

existing keys need to be depaired or they’re junk. mileage correction needs a seed

AND, how many wrecked XKs have had the keys unpaired? Not many, I'd think.
