Figured I'd introduce myself as I just recently purchased my first Jag; a 2010 XKR Convertible that I've been loving so far. The car replaced a 2001 Mercedes SLK320 that I'd owned for 10 years, but we recently added a baby to the family so I wanted something with little child friendly rear seats and the Jag fit the bill. Plus, the huge bump in performance is nice
It's a higher mileage car (104K miles), but came with complete maintenance history, I've driven it a fair bit over the last couple of days and have not discovered any issues yet, so the car seems well sorted. It does need a really good detailing, and I've slowly been working away at that.
This was a Florida car, originally purchased in Sarasota, it spent most of it's life in Key West and the owners I purchased it from had a place in Key West, as well as their house here in Toronto, so the car made a number of trips back and fourth over the years - hence the mileage.
Which brings me to my Florida question....With all my cars I like to run a dealer plate from from the area of country where the car originated from....Our daily drivers for example are two Cadillacs, one has a Nashville TN Cadillac dealer plate frame, and the other has an Edmonton AB frame. I haven't had much luck though finding a dealer plate frame from Florida (Sarasota or the South Florida would be ideal...but I'll take what I can get) on eBay. Anyone in the area willing to get one and send it to me? Obviously I'll cover the costs.
Few photos of the car - still needing a proper paint correction and detailing.....

Ummmmmmm.......... Well, OK then...............
Anyway, welcome to the forum!
Thanks guys. I'll call those Jag dealers when I get a chance and see if they'll send me one.
Trevuren, thanks for the link, but the one in the photo I just pulled outta my truck because it was handy - the Jag generally gets parked indoors, so I don't really need one for it.
It's hard to believe that it has over 100,000 miles! The interior is gorgeous and looks great. Obviously the previous owner took great care of it. In case you're not aware, the 2010 was the only year that the XKR came fully equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control as standard equipment.
You can learn a lot about your car on this Forum. The Advanced Search function is very helpful. The water pump, battery and leather dashboard shrinking are weaknesses, so read about them.

Enjoy your new ride!
Thanks! I was surprised at how well the car has held up. Working on paint correction today, and while the paint was neglected, it comes back to showroom pretty easily.
I also just ordered new filters (oil, air & cabin) so will go around refreshing all the fluids and changing filters before I put too many miles on it.
Funny you mention the water pump....I noticed that the reservoir was just below the 'min' line, and poking around I got a faint smell a coolant from the front of the engine. Using a mirror I can see some crusty orange coolant residue that seems pretty fresh around the water pump, so like many others I suspect I've got a very slow weep from the pump. Based on the service history it looks like this car has already had one pump, installed in 2015 at around 60,000miles by Fields Jaguar in Waukesha WI....But that was 40,000 miles ago so I guess it's plausible that it's failed again.
Is the Water Pump a DIY friendly job? I am a fairly heavy DIY'er, but don't have any special Jag equipment/tools. I downloaded the Service Manual PDF and the procedure looks fairly straightforward...Any advice or tips from someone who has done the job?
Looking at RockAuto it looks like the only pump they list is a GMB unit (part # 1442060) for a surprisingly cheap $109CAD. Is this the recommended unit or is there something else the forum recommends?
Anything else that should be replaced at the same time as the water pump?
I have a 2007 xkr and just for note it smells like coolant after a drive as well. I have put over 2500 miles and the coolant never drops, I think it is from the overflow lid , just doesn't seal properly, just a guess though.

I would not waste any time getting your cooling system pressure tested. If the Low Coolant warning light goes on, you're vulnerable to a catastrophic engine failure. Don't wait until it's too late to fix it! Since you already suspect a bad water pump, be sure to keep a gallon jug of water in your car, and check the coolant level in the overflow tank every day. If that idiot light comes on, pull over immediately, shut off the engine, check the overflow tank level and add water if necessary. If you must drive it, turn the heater on maximum temperature and highest fan speed to help cool down the engine; the heater is just another small radiator. If the heater doesn't blow hot air, then there's no coolant being circulated and your engine will soon be a doorstop. I recommend that every 5.0L owner buy a Bluetooth ELM327 OBDII reader and pair it to your cellphone that has the free Torque app (or Torque Pro paid version) to monitor your engine temperature (and other functions) in real time.
You should also check for leaks at the upper and lower coolant outlet Y-pipe and use new gaskets if they need to be replaced. I just had this done on my 2013 XJ SC and think the following OEM Jaguar part numbers are the same for the XKR:
AJ813909. Pump-Water
C2Z18658. Tube
AJ811539. O-Ring
AJ813865. Pipe-Outlet
AJ813917. Tube
C2Z28265. Gasket
AJ811948. Gasket
AJ811576. Gasket
AJ811590. Gasket
While it's apart, also check for excessive play in the supercharger isolator.
C2D52713. Kit-Supercharger
You will save $$$ by shopping for the above parts on the internet and from our Forum sponsors. Be sure to ask for any additional discounts. An experienced indy JLR technician can save you $$$over a dealer, because they have lower overhead.
I would not use any aftermarket parts for these repairs. But it's your car, your money, and your choice.
Thanks Stuart for the helpful post - I was actually just looking for a list of part #'s. I am not getting it pressure tested, I already confirmed visually that the pump is leaking. Looking at the service manual is doesn't look to difficult, I'll track down the parts, find a day to dedicate to doing it slowly and carefully and just get it done.
Go for the latest updated OEM Jaguar water pump.Lots of labor, and it helps to have the OEM parts as I'm sure there are some additional plastic parts that are necessary as well. Be careful with taking it apart as some of the plastics might be fragile with your mileage. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
Well, bit of an update here. I was getting ready to go to the Jag dealer tomorrow to order the water pump and some other stuff, went out to the car to check if I had an oil filter cap wrench that would fit and happened to notice this....
A tiny little split in a tube for the coolant overflow - looks like it's leaking coolant onto a bracket below it and from there it's running down around the water pump.....So there's a chance I don't need a pump after all! Going to replace this tube first and monitor from there. Tube appears to be part # C2P13304
In other good news - I called Palm Beach Jaguar and they were very happy to send me a plate frame, I haven't received it in the mail yet, but so far I am very impressed with the service from that particular dealer, even though I am not likely to ever be a customer given that I am in another country.
