iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 9 beta. I'm still unable to hear more than 1 second of music playback without my phone pausing.
1 second of music plays, I bob my head and then it pauses... Rage ensues.
I'm not switching phones. I'm considering buying an aftermarket Apple Car Play enabled head unit. That stock unit is so slow anyway...

Can't change the head unit, unfortunately - too heavily integrated into the rest of the car.
The whole "1 second" thing seems very random. I haven't spotted any pattern so far with year of car, model of phone, iOS version, etc. Mine's MY11, iPhone 6, iOS 8.4, and it plays fine via the Jag cable & a Lightning adapter. I had a Bluetooth audio issue recently (no audio when making a call - that was cleared by restarting the phone.

Do any of the later model year XKs have Bluetooth music streaming? Or do you have to use a connector cable to connect to your phone to play music for all year XKs. If so, what was the first year? I'm thinking of buying an XKR and prefer to stream my music via Bluetooth rather than plug my phone in with a cable.

I still don't understand why more (all) owners don't pony up $6 (£4), buy a flash drive, put a jillion songs on it, and leave it in the USB slot. Forever. Always handy, always there, always works. No cables, no phone, no wires, no hassle.
OR, buy any Android phone.

Well, I tend to be a little more optimistic as I've enjoyed many successes contacting Apple support. If the first line contact cannot fix a problem, one can request it get bumped up the chain of command. Perhaps, many folks in your circles don't know this? I've had to do this a couple of times.
But why an iPhone 6 will pair and not the 6S is perplexing and begs for one to contact Applecare.
Happy Trails ......

I don't mean to berate apple, nor their owners, but when there are always problems that can't be rectified I don't see the appeal of them.
So please, just ignore my ramblings.

Hi Cee Jay,
Yes, I did have to contact them the in "first place"....for reasons, not as a result of their equipment or iOS issues, but, for my own failings in using their products. Since '85 until fall of 2014, I was a user of Microsoft PC and Android Cell products. I never received the level of support from Microsoft nor the Android community, as I have from Apple .
Not sure this is relevant, during the last ten years of 35 year career with VZ, I was a network engineer, that also ran an internal PC support center. We fielded support calls from approx. 600-700 internal employees. VZ (Verizon Communications) was a Microsoft product company. Thus, was thoroughly immersed in MS O/S.
So, I have a lot of experience in what it takes to hang up, leaving a user with a happy experience. "Turn coating" to Apple last fall, was a new "row to hoe" for me, thus, I relied on "their" support team. Now, I'm on the other side of that phone, hanging up with a happy experience.
Have you not? Yes, I'm now ranting too, but, somewhere along the line you became jaded, it seems?
Anyway, keep the shiny side up, my friend......

Before selecting a new phone last year I tried the iPhone 6+ and Samsung Note 4. Both worked fine in my 2013 XKR. I ended up going with the Note 4 because of the rich android OS (multi-windows and customization) and productivity features. Apple makes a great product for dummies who want an out of the box simple phone but their OS leaves a lot to be desired (I was very disappointed with iOS 8).
I use a USB memory stick in my cars for music. However, if you subscribe to a monthly music service you are unable to copy your music to a memory stick.
