Jaguar winning the trophy for highest depreciation!
If it costs more the five hundred bucks, it ALREADY lost the difference between the sale price and that 500.
With custom cars, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This car might be something that perhaps sell at one of those auctions on TV for 6 figures, or perhaps not, maybe not even $5,000. I built a custom truck, a few years back, when it came time to sell it, I didn't even get back the investment.
I'm 1 year into my Jag ownership and will be looking to sell within 6 months. Kelly Blue Book places the value at a small gain/break even for one year ownership. This takes into consideration miles I have put on it. I have noticed that prices on some other model year and other high line cars I am looking at show much depreciation. My 08 XKR convertible was in the $100K MSRP when new. I'd expect a big depreciation over 9+ years, but not a drastic one in a year or so time. My hopes are for an 2010+ XKR... although others in the same class are options. Best find will win.
As bad as this depreciation is (and it is bad) the last reports I've seen say Cadillac and Mercedes is a bit worse.
Not to worry thou because this historic high depreciation has allowed me to own a series if slightly used classics I could otherwise not afford. I think a lot of us here on this Forum are in the same category.
