Default Jaguar XKR 2009 (2010MY) Suspension Question

Evening all,

I currently have my car in the garage for some TLC over the winter season in preparation for when the roads dry up and become pleasant to drive on over here in the UK. The garage have identified that one of the rear shocks has begun to leak and requires replacement, I have decided to use the opportunity to overhaul the suspension and renew all four shocks and top mounts (given the cars age and circa 70k mileage), unfortunately, Jaguar UK do not currently have any shock absorbers in stock nor are they able to provide any information as to when they are likely to be able to supply them.

I have been doing some digging and stumbled across a thread from a few years ago here:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...normal-180332/

Within the above thread there is a very useful link to an eBay seller which I will post below who unbelievably can supply a full set of OEM Jaguar shocks for less than the cost of one shock from Jaguar UK (should they ever return to stock). My concern is that the seller explicitly states that the shocks are only suitable for an XK and not an XKR yet the part numbers listed appear to be the correct parts for the age/specification of my vehicle. Can anyone confirm whether the below part numbers are the correct parts for a 2010MY 5L Supercharged XKR?

Front Shocks - C2P17670
Rear Shocks - C2P17674

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Russ

Those P/N's certainly appear in the list for XKR 5.0:

FRONT

REAR:

Front looks to be consistent across the range but rear changes with VIN range.

Thanks Graham, that is a useful insight. I'm curious if the colours Green/Purple relate to the stickers on the shocks. However the shocks listed on eBay are part no C2P17674 but with a green sticker rather than purple as the parts catalogue would indicate.

When I was shopping for dampers for my 4.2, I came across these on eBay, and in researching the part number (for the fronts) It seemed that for 2010-2011, the XK and XKR used the same part, which I found odd, but perhaps the car controls the differently if its an XK or XKR. I hadn’t seen the green/purple dot reference before, but that may be meaningful, as I just now saw that on a Jaguar parts dealer website as well.

The Workshop Manual refers to colour coding of springs and dampers but fails to explain the differences.

How unusual, I have been scouring the forum and Google trying to ascertain the difference and so far I'm drawing a blank. The only thing I have managed to confirm is that XKR-S dampers can be installed onto an XKR without issue which leads me to believe the dampers are generally interchangeable across the 5L cars.

Thinking about the suspension on my XKR and came across this... I might downgrade for the same reason.
