Default Jaguar XKR 75 special edition

http://www.motorauthority.com/blog/1...edition-xkr-75

Why does jag always lie about their 0-60 times? Car and driver said the new XKR could get to 60 in 4.0 seconds, and it had trouble hooking up.

They want to get you in a good bargaining position for "Pinks".

A couple of years ago R&T tested the XKR vs the Maserati Coupe and they were able to go 0-60 in 4.2 seconds so with an additional 90 hp a 4.0 0-60 time seems reasonable. I would guess the XKR 75 might get a sub 4 sec 0-60 time and get a low 12 or high 11 second 1/4 time with a professional driver.

Thanks for the info.

Here's additional views:

Interesting that one article mentions the U.S. version won't get the 20HP bump and the European Version will.

It looks like the US and Canada markets get the XKR-175. This is an appearance only option with the exception of raising the speed limit to 174 mph. Price is a bit cheaper though, around $104K vs $128K or so. I'm guessing the usual pulley, chip and exhaust upgrades will get you that extra 20-30 hp.

Shouldn't there be a way to tune the supercharger to get 600 BHP like the Bonneville XFR? That would put it into supercar territory.

There's also XKR Black Edition coming out at the sametime.

no cares about 0-60 times, this car is built to turn and grip. take on a twisty road and open her up. 120mph around a corner at 2am in the morning is the best feeling in the world. but how would i know hehe

You may know by now since this was post awhile back, but the 175 does in fact get the hp & torque boost, only difference from the 75 & 175 is the paint job (75 gray, 175 black) and the wheels (175 sans black wheels).

Only reason I could see me going for a special edition would be for the black wheels thus it's a no go with the 175.

It was my impression that the US and Canadian cars would not get the 20hp boost as well. We may be looking at conflicting reports that are dated differently though. The 175 appears to be a combination of the Speed Pack and Black Pack versions sold in the UK, but not here. The XKR 175 does not have the black wheels that the Black Pack cars have though. Still really nice though. If you're not one of the 175 selected, it looks like you can build out an XKR to look like an XKR 175 without the 174 mph limiter. If you want the 174 limiter you may have to bribe your dealer for one or maybe go to a shop like Arden. Arden will likely be fairly pricey however.

According the Jaguar manager of product planning at Pebble Beach, the XKR 175 will have 510hp/461TQ. So looks like no bump in HP for the US vehicles.

Cool

Is there / Are there any decals, plackards or internal stamping that tells you the number you received : example XK:13/75 telling you, you have the 13th XK out of 75.

Sweet car! I was wondering what the 1 piece wheel options were as I've only been looking at 3 piece wheels thus far...

Nope, no "xx/75" badge, just the distinctive paint & wheels, and "XKR 75" scuff plates on the sills
