Not so sure. My 2010 XF is starting its typical jag crap. Glitches and sputters and yet, can't be figured out. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think they're that reliable. Yes getting on with Denso helped but they're still wriggled with electrical issues.

Go under the car and start working on it and the amount of "after thought" things you see are just crazy!

My check engine light just won't go away, no matter what we do to fix the code on display

Just put a piece of black electric tape over the light, like I do on the incredibly bright cable box in my bedroom. If you can't see it, it doesn't exist.

Going by the mechanic to actually verify it is the same code that won't leave my car alone, despite doing what Jaguar said needed replacing.

Replacing a defective part indicated by a code will not erase the code itself (nor the engine light) - and there are some codes that "consumer grade" OBD II readers cannot retrieve and cannot cancel. An example: the only repair we have done in 10 years on my wife's X-Type is replacement of an 02 sensor; the "check engine" light came on; my OBD II reader could not retrieve the code, nor could it cancel the light. My mechanic (Jaguars non-dealer specialist) has the equipment to retrieve all the codes, and determine the problem; he replaced the sensor but then had to cancel the code as a separate procedure. result: no engine warning light.
