Default Just what is Computer Active Tech Suspension

It's listed on the window sticker for my 08 XK. I familiar with the MRC suspension GM uses aka F55 optional suspension on Corvette's, but can't find any detailed info on this.

Thanks

Tom

from:

Active suspension - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) co-ordinates the best possible balance between ride and handling by analysing road conditions and making up to 3,000 adjustments every second to the suspension settings via electronically controlled dampers...

But, according to this link:

http://www.jaguar-enthusiasts.org.uk...-dynamics.html

it's been replaced with "adaptive dynamics" in newer cars (probably because someone pointed out the CATS acronym was kind of silly)

Very interesting, I'm surprised there isn't much chatter on this subject. Over on the Corvette Forums heated battles erupt over the two suspension types to point the threads get locked and members given "time outs". Maybe because it's standard on the XK.

Thanks for the info.

Ok, I understand this and all the functions that it does. But I don't understand how on my 07', to access the different modes. Or if you can actually do so.

The driver can not switch the mode of CATS. It's not like the system in the Mercs or Bimmers.

Unlike the Corvette and CTS-V which are driver adjustable I'm thinking the Jag's system is not user adjustable. It does all the thinking and adjustments based on the input the various sensors receive.

Thanks,
I know the S-type Sport my dad had for a while had different settings for suspension. You could actually tell if you changed them while driving.
