Default Rear Brake light went out

My left rear brake light burned out this morning (received neat warning in the info center) I refer to the Owner's Manual before heading to local auto parts store for correct bulb info. Manual says I need a P21 bulb.

I'm unable to find the P/N at any of the parts stores using their on-line search tools.

Can someone tell me what a cross reference replacement bulb is??

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Sylvania 7528 is a direct replacement, 2 for $5.98 at Advanced Auto. I also discovered an error in the Owners Manual, it states to remove the left side assembly "remove the nut" to me "nut" is singular. So after tugging on the assembly I decided to pull back the trunk carpet instead of working through the vent hole.

Sure enough there is a second nut that must be removed. Bingo the entire tail light assembly pops out and you can now easily get to the four bulbs that are fitted.

That could have been expensive if I had "firmly pulled" the tail light assembly from the car with one nut still attached to a stud mounted into the plastic assembly.

I added this info to the Owner's Manual for future reference.

If your car is under the factory warranty, then light bulbs are replaced for free. My rear directional bulb was "de-silvering" causing the color to shift toward a white-ish and away from amber. The other rear directional bulb was burned out. Both were replaced under the factory warranty.

Still under warranty, but unlike all my Corvette's where there is a Chevy dealer usually within miles of where you live, there is only ONE Jaguar dealer in the St Louis area and it's over 40 miles away.

That trip over and back during a work day would have taken me about 4 hours of vacation to accomplish, so replacing it myself seemed more logical.
