Default Kasuga rims - tire sizes

Hi everyone,

I've been looking around for some 20" rims for my xk and I've pretty much settled on going for Kasuga's. Now I've got a lead on a really great set which the seller claims will fit on the xk and xj, but the tires fitted are listed as being 245/40/20 and 275/35/20. This seems correct for the xj but everywhere else I've looked seems to suggest that for the xk 255/35/20 And 285/30/20's should be fitted. Any thoughts?

TIA,
Tony

I'm also going to put Kasugas on my XK. My dealer told me that the reason the two cars use different size tires on the same wheel is because the XJ sits higher off the ground than the XK does.

The 245x40 = 98mm sidewall height
The 255x35 = 89.25mm

The 275x35 = 96.25mm
The 285x30 = 85.5 mm

So, the 255 and 285 combination results in nearly 18-20 mm difference in the tire/wheel diameter which means that with this set the car would ride about 9-10 mm lower. It is also likely the size that your speedometer is calibrated for.
