Default Drove through construction area - now I need a new tire!!

I'm so annoyed. I often have to give my Mom a ride home from work and they are doing new home construction in her neighborhood. I'm always fairly careful about driving there but apparently I ran over not one, but two nails on the right side of my car. My right front tire is being repaired but the right rear got the nail in the side of the tire so it has to be replaced.

The dealer quoted me about $733 for the one tire (yikes!!), so I told them I would look around and get back to them. I had read about Tirebuyer.com somewhere on this forum and decided to give them a call. I found the matching 20" Dunlop tire there for $598 (a bargain!) plus free shipping so I ordered it and will have it delivered directly to the dealer. I now have to leave my car at the dealer until next Tuesday as it's not drivable now that the nail is out of the tire.

Just a word of caution for those who have to drive near construction areas - don't!!

Sandy

Brutal! They are pricey. Even on Tirerack.com they're about the same as what you got them for.

The Dunlops are stupid expensive. Almost twice the price of Pilot Sports... which is ridiculous to be honest...

Sorry to what happened to your tires . These are outrageously priced , I see no point of paying twice the price of Michelin at all .
There are some liquid products to protect the tires from similar mishaps but I have no idea as to they are gimmicks or marvel stuffs

I have Dunlops and need new tires. I decided to try the same ones I had on my old XK8, Hankook Ventus V12 Evo. A set of four 19" tires delivered is $846 and it comes with an $80 rebate that gets the set of four for about what a dealer charges for one Dunlop. I'm sold.

Careful on the V12s. They're not nearly as good in the rain or dry as others. But they are quite a bit cheaper. The set of V12s I had on my Z lasted barely 17k miles and I'll never buy them again. Just replaced them this week with the new Pilot Super Sports.

Dunlops are cheaper than Michelins in the UK. I think many people pay the extra here as they prefer the Michelins. At those prices in the US, why would anyone go for Dunlop?

Several have complained at how quickly the Dunlops flat-spot.

If it wasn't for the fact that I only need to replace the one tire, I would absolutely get another brand. When the time comes to replace them all, I will definitely be checking in with my buddies here on JaguarForum to get the best information and prices. I am shocked that the tire needs to be replaced but at the same time, I don't want to be driving around on an unsafe tire either. My new tire is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Until then I'm driving our spare car, a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. It's super cute but it's no Jag!!
