Key fob battery life
I picked up this 07 XKR in Oct. last year with 19,000 miles. I replaced the key fob battery at that time just because. One month later the key fob battery warning comes up so I replace it again. One month later warning again so I replace again. That one lasted until couple weeks ago so I put the first new one back in and it lasted a week and again a warning. Car is located about 30' from where fob is kept when not in use, locked, with tender plugged in. What kind of life are you experiencing with these fob battery's?

New fobs need to be configured using the Jag diagnostic system, so you need a dealer or indy specialist. Be warned - I believe that, if a fob has been paired to one car, it has to be un-paired before it can be paired with another. So beware of buying used fobs unless they come with a guarantee that they are no longer paired to any car.

You can buy key fobs on Ebay. As I recall there is a wide price range, say from $35 -$165. But, as Ngarara says above make sure that what you buy is "unprogrammed". Here's the link:

This thread reminds me of days gone by when all we had were keys! How times have changed!
Quick key story....
My Dad had a 1984 Mercedes SL (Dad's gone now but Mom still has it parked in the garage). Anyway - soon after they bought it they went to a dinner party at a house some distance away. Turns out the evening was warm so Mom left her coat draped on the seat and they went to the party. As they started the drive home - Mom realized her coat was gone...
Dad stopped the car to have a good look around and as he got out to walk over to her side he realized..... This wasn't there car. Not even the same color.
They drove it back to the party. Put it back at the curb.... and returned home (with Mom's coat) in there SL.
Fobs are a pain some times but keys certainly weren't perfect....even on a Mercedes!
