I have a 2012 XKR on which LED strip above the headlamp on one side has failed. I am told by the garage that this will cause it to fail the MOT in May.
I have noticed though - when I first unlock the car, the LED strip does flash on as usual, and then turns off. Am I clutching at straws or does this mean the problem is not actually with the headlamp unit and may be upstream? The unit (C2P18226) is £2,582.12, and out of stock on Jaguar... so I would love to find a way around this!
'active/adaptive front lighting,RHD' on the Jaguar parts website. It is the entire headlamp unit as I am told that is the only way to sort out the issue.
OK thanks and that does show as a head lamp and even the used ones are pretty expensive.
Sorry these are sealed lights and I have been following the few repair attempts that have been made. So far not much has been done because separating the lens from the head light is very difficult. I don't see anyway of inspecting or repairing the LED's until this can be done without inflicting further damage to the assembly. Remember it has to be put back together in the end.
So first do no harm!
Here is a broken light on EBay and that shows a bit of the inside of the light. Broken XK Head Light
This picture at least gives you what the LED's look like inside the light. Even broken and unusable the guy still wants $400!
Good luck and I would be interested in how you get this repaired if you do.
