And if I may, I would like to add not only my condolences, but also my appreciation for you having shared this with the forum. I can only imagine that it might have been difficult to do, and I admire your bravery. I hope you found some comfort in doing so, but I can assure you that many members who read your story will derive a renewed appreciation for the gift of friends and family, current and past, and a reminder to enjoy every day.

Condolences on your loss, I can’t even imagine what you are going through. Do what makes you happy, keep the memories alive. We should all enjoy the time we have left.

What? Ross passed away! I exchanged emails with him 4 years ago about his cancer challenge. This is so disconcerting and a huge lose for Jaguar and this forum. I'm going to miss him on this forum. RIP my friend!

JT I saw that you listed your car. It broke my heart frankly. I wish it was in you to keep it, but I understand your pain and conflict.

Thank you for saying it aloud.
I had the same reaction a day ago, just kept it to myself.
Its amazing how a sense of caring evolves even though we want to remain strangers.

My hope is that the Corvette opens a new chapter.

She was the reason I sold the Ferrari and bought the Jag. We had great rides and memories but it's not the same anymore. I still have my memories but getting in and driving is just not the same. I had thought that the Jag would be my last car and we searched for 6 months just looking for the right one. She was all in on the buy and enjoyed both riding and driving it. I'll never get rid of the memories but feel I should start new ones for myself. It's been 2 months and things continue to change. When I 1st saw the C8 she told me if you want it then go buy it and enjoy it. Knowing what we both new at the time we had many private talks and she wanted me to enjoy the rest of my life. What was the name of that movie , "the heart is a lonely hunter" I think. I have it parked now with the speedo at 26,000 so we'll see what the future looks like. Thanks for the posts and compassion.

As I said earlier, sorry for your loss. It sounds like she was one terrific lady. I hope the C8 brings you much pleasure and that the contrast between it and the cat and its memories add to your pleasure.

Just got a call from my C8 sales guy. They want to give me $30K trade for the xkr so I need to run the numbers. The state I'm buying the car from is a 0 tax state so I'll be paying the tax in NY when the car gets registered. Our tax rate is 8.125% so the trade-in takes $30K out of the tax hit. As some have seen I have the car listed for $35K so I'll just have to assess the better way to go.
Also just to show you that lighting can strike twice my sister passed away last week. Can't wait until the holiday season is over. Life is short.

So sorry for your losses. May things only improve for you going forward. Come on out to Southern California for a week, we'll play golf everyday, I've got an XKR 'vert you can use, and we've got plenty of room in our home. I had surgery today, so it will be about 3 weeks 'til I can swing a club. It would be my pleasure.

Sorry to hear about both your losses.

The $30k trade and tax savings looks to split the difference between their offer and list. Personally I would say take that deal and save yourself the hassle of dealing with low ballers, joy riders, or all around tools you have to weed through to sell your car. Listing it at $35k means you will have to negotiate with whoever comes in, nobody expects to pay first price. Sure you can hold out, but everyday you have it is another day it is sitting idle.
