The indy Jag shops around me are pretty good. The older the model, they better they are at fixing it. Opposite of the main dealers.

Heh...
So, you've been here less than a week; you've got only a few posts; you don't own a jag; and you took the opportunity to insult a stranger.
As my old southern grandma would say....
"Well, Bless your heart...."

Cheers!

lol i didn't "insult" anyone, making this kind of post and purposely omitting pertinent details is silly...serves no purpose. I have owned 2 jags previously, the only reason why i don't currently own one is because a Red Portfolio without any issues is hard to come by, so im waiting patiently

I think it would have been fraud had the fuse been missing, that said those hefty fuses rare blow (I've never had one go in 40yrs of driving).

Knowing FT LD (albeit from few years back) there's a lot of money around there and it has a higher % of older drivers that will just about manage to top up their washer fluid (some can't even do that)

The garage is just being community spirited and trying to relieve them of some of their hard earned pensions. JOKE!!

I have had similar experiences with a couple shops in jacksonville, most recently, I brought my xk8 in to do a transmission fluid flush, my battery not charging light has been on during my entire ownership, have had alternator and battery tested multiple times and use the car on a daily basis, and had just had it properly tested a day before this to be safe going through a little maintenance regiment.

guy says he can't do my transmission fluid because of the light, as if that is somehow related, says he "tested it" and that I need a new alternator, it could be causing transmission issues, would not do fluid without doing alternator, and quoted me a price, I told him I had just had it checked the day before (I regret telling him this), and that I want to pick it up and "think about it", of course as soon as I get it back the car starts acting wonky and the alternator dies and leaves my dad stranded the next day, very funny timing.

I feel like something was done after me saying I actually just had it tested and it was fine, because I caught him on his bs about "testing it" and he needed to prove me wrong. He also quoted a bit higher than normal, and I figure he knew that I knew about the battery not charging light and thought he could add on some extra cash. I could be wrong, didn't leave a bad review, but the timing was a little too good to be true.

It's easy to loosen the ecu-regulator control line at the alternator, or loosen the output lead so it doesn't have good contact. Lots of ways to temporarily mess up a car, particularly if you're an unscrupulous tech.

You can easily inspect the rear side of the alternator to make sure that connectors are tight. If you do decide to have it looked at, take it somewhere else.
