Look back on my 13yr and counting ownership
Hi all. Been a while since I posted on here. I have had my XKR for almost 13yrs. Yes still have it. I only use it once in a while now. So she sits in the garage most of the time. But whenever I get back into it, I always smile. Apart from the usual normal consumable maintenance. I am continuing to have fun with the XKR. I did solve a buzzing sound coming from my pedestrian airbag area, drivers side. It was the beep sounder. I unplugged it and no buzzing also no more battery drain. On that subject. I have had my battery for about 10yrs. I always disconnect it when I don't use the car for long periods of time. I keep it topped up on charge. It's also an AGM battery. I think a must have. These cars act very peculiarly with a low battery. Almost like its possessed, I kid you not.
I just wanted to touch base, well overdue. I have always said that this forum is a great place to be. Full of very useful information.

It's a 2006 model. An earlier one. All hoses etc are all good. I do regularly clean and treat the engine bay as well as the paintwork. So this may have helped. Seat leather holding up well. No wear or tears. The sun hear can be harsh. I'm pleased the dash top is still all good.
Have you replaced any of the suspension bushings? If not, you might want to take a look at them, as time takes its toll on rubber parts, not mileage. See: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...cement-284665/
like Muncher I have had my XKR over for 13 + years. buying it new in Oct 2009 as aa 2010 model. Regular routine service, only glitch was a bout of flat batteries that was solved by changing the BCM. No issues since. I changed the front pads at 145,000km although the wear indicator was not on because it seemed a sensible thing to do. None of the gremlins of hoses, water pump or suspension bushes have reared their ugly head (now see what will happen). The car still attracts looks and favourable comments after all this time. I do not understand why it does not appear in "10 best sports cars " or whatever but surely it will become a true classic.
It is tucked away for the winter but trips planned for Indianapolis and maybe Vancouver next year.
Really enjoy the Forum, even if it does make me nervous as to what might go wrong;

Hi bablake. I think the key with these cars is regular maintenance and using the recommended parts and fluids.
I don't get to use my XKR as much as before, I'm into the American car scene alot. So i usually drive one of them.
I agree with it becoming a future classic. The resale value hear in NZ is holding well.
I did look at selling it a year or two ago. But when it came down to it, i couldn't do it.
Definitely would like to do some road trips too. It's been a while.
Make sure you keep that battery topped up on its winter break. But you already know that.😀
