Looks like a a very nice car....however, considering Jaguar's depreciation curve and specifically the mileage for a 2012, the price is way too much for the mileage (regardless of color combo). I'm sure you can find garage queens for much lower prices. These cars don't fly out the door and for that price won't be selling soon either. Patience is the key for buying a used Jaguar XK.

I think the same can apply to selling one.

The buyer doesn't have a lot of choice on color, production numbers aren't high, and there are a lot of combinations possible that prevent the likelihood of finding the one you want.

This means to the right buyer, a price much higher than market is acceptable to get the color they want.

I HAD to have caramel when I got my XK. I paid above market same day buy quite happily to get the one caramel interior car that was listed within 100 miles.

As a seller, it can be a matter of waiting for that one buyer that your car is worth a lot more due to its particular color combination.

Now for a dealer, maybe they want to move the cash value quickly and might negotiate on price. Who knows.

I'm not a shopper, I see what I want at a price I'm willing to pay, I buy it. Market doesn't matter, because the market isn't the car I'm looking at.

The XK was never sold in great numbers. A buyer being specific for color combos brings choices down and is more restricted. Yes, if a buyer finds his specific color/combo and wants to pay that much more in a limited market, ok.....It certainly will make the seller happy in such a depreciated market as Jaguar. Rare cars for the Jaguar XK don't come close or equate to an increase in value. However as they say... a buyer will pay what he/she thinks the car is worth. Ultimately is if the buyer is happy... regardless of price.

Make a run out to Wilde Jaguar on Clark Rd there in Sarasota. Their web page shows they have a XKR coupe on their lot. Though I admit that I didn't look at the details it is really a nice looking sample.

This is of course though, why I asked about price range when posting that car.

Donzi didn't mention whether he is looking for a bargain, or just looking for anything nice to buy.

Nice is also a little subjective, what one may like, another may not.

Are XK/XKR's very few and far between in the states? Quick glance on UK Autotrader and there are nearly 600 for sale. I always though the USA was the biggest market for Jaguar. Just curious really.

Donzi,

I'm puzzled by your signature - "2009 Portfolio Celestial Black".

The 2008 XKR Portfolio is Celestial Black, and the 2009 XKR Portfolio is Shadow Gray.

Typo? Is it a 2008?

Stuart

OP drops just enough info to start a conversation, but not enough to find an answer... Plenty of cars out there. You might need to travel a bit and wait for the 'perfect' one to pop up.

Plenty is right. I just bought a 2013 XKR with the Dynamic Pack that had under 30,000 miles. They're all over the place. Flew to Austin to pick it up and drove it to Phoenix. Bought a 2011 XKR with 32,000 miles 2 years ago, has the Black Pack and Speed Pack. Flew to Houston and drove it to Seattle. I live in both places so I needed XKRs in both places!

I will say that it seems 90% of the XKRs out there are black.

Oh, and the red one in the 2nd post, was posted here for sale by a forum member, at a really good price. He ended up trading it in and now you see the heavy markup. He did a bunch of upgrades to that car. I went and looked at it, beautiful!
