Good luck with finding a red XKR with those specs. As you have found, they're rare. Even if you find it, there may be other issues that convince you to not buy it. To me, the most important thing would be to drive it as soon as possible. How long are you willing to wait for "the one"?

I suggest that you eliminate the red exterior color as your primary decision-making factor. Instead, focus on overall condition, low mileage, 1 or 2 owners, complete maintenance history, interior color, options (backup camera, adaptive cruise, etc.). Because black, white and gray XKR s are plentiful, prices will be lower than red. Put that savings towards having your XKR professionally wrapped in the shade of red of your choice. You'll have a brand new exterior finish, free of scratches, swirls, and other imperfections, that'll really turn heads.

The road of life is short, so enjoy the ride before it's too late. Stay off this highway, Route 666, as it goes to the end of the road.

Wrap or even paint is hard to do correctly because you would have to do door, hood, trunk jambs,
Im in no hurry,,if it takes couple months or couple years,,ID rather have one that came in red
from the factory. If I dont find one in year or two I may get one in white if its in
very good shape and have it repainted the right way but Id be looking at 8-10k to have it done right.

Your money, your choice. But I don't see where it makes financial sense to spend $8-10k on a car that costs $25k for a paint job that won't add much to the value of the car.

With a wrap, you still have the original paint underneath the wrap. It's only original once.

X150 prices are still declining and, although many Forum members consider their cars to be future classics, the reality is that they're just used cars with a reputation (undeserved) for poor reliability and high maintenance costs. That makes the X150 a bargain for the knowledgeable buyer.

I had strong color preference and bias too.
In the many years I have come to realize that there was no bad color for the XKR.
Jaguar gave us the benefit of their long-term experience and did not put all colors on all cars.
For instance the sea foam metallic, a great color but on a cruiser, and they kept it that way.
White was a color I dont like on cars, any of them, till I saw my friends white XKR.
The greys are timeless. Black is stunning but work-and that is the point. Silver is iconic. The BRG with all the other brightwork looks so appropriate. On a Porsche without that classic panache it looks ridiculous.
Jaguar was very conservative, some colors that would not look right in the American sun, they did not release here. And its the color I wanted the most, but realized they could see past the honeymoon.

I thought you were BS'ing Stuart. I had to google it. If that's truly a pic of it, I will have to make the trip. Prolly going there anyway, might as well enjoy the view.

Ive had black cars, white cars,grey/silver cars,, all fine
but I prefer red,,if and when i get an XKR it will be for a while,
I may buy a different color if price and milage is
right but I prefer a red one and since it is my money thats what I will look for.
Also the thing about 8-10k on paint was just a last ditch option,
doubt I would do that just would never wrap a car,,its not cheap
and never looks as good as a correct color change.

Ugh. Someone got stupid with stick-on emblems and interior paint. This one would need some UNfixing to make it right.

You are far too kind and diplomatic. Here's a picture of the current owner.

Stuart - a new favorite photo? According to the listing it has been listed for 24 weeks. Cleaning up the interior might be a major job. Also be sure to check the water pump, etc., etc.

They are tough to find as it took me 6 months to find mine. Bought unseen with only pictures from a dealer back in 2014. Sold it last December for $35K with 24k miles on it. Was sold in less then a month. Good luck on the search.

Ralph,

Yes, it is. It's a rare photograph that's funny and can express your thoughts in many different circumstances. It's like a "One Size Fits All" bathrobe that covers everything.

It caught your attention and got two "Likes" so far in this thread, which proves my point. I'll see if it got any likes in the other thread about Mayor de Blasio.

Stuart

P.S. It got two Likes here, https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...areful-233401/ , in my Post #17 about Mayor de Blasio, one of which was from you!

Hate to say this but GL finding 1 being that the car is already rare. But if you REALLY want 1 that bad, might as well find 1 and get it professionally painted that color.A little modification won't hurt
