I noticed this dangling loose when I replaced the battery. Can't see anything for it to connect to. Anyone know what it's for? Seems it should at least be tied down.

 

"Shipping Relay Connector". A relay is installed on that during shipping to save battery life an' such. The dealer removes the relay when received and the connector is then worthless (unless you ship your car, but then you don't have the correct "relay", since I don't think it is actually a relay).

 

Thanks. I figured it was for some option. Never would have guessed it was for a shipping relay. Never heard of it!

 

Make sure it cannot short to anything as it can disable your car. (Not that most shorts are good news!)

 

And nobody has ever seen one unless they work at a dealership.



It's like the mythical "second towing eye". This also disappears during new vehicle PDI, never to be seen again.

The X100's had them dangling just forward and inboard of the battery.
