Default Lower driver panel removal - 2007 XK

I'm trying to repair a noisy temperature sensor motor. It is located behind a small grate just right of the steering wheel. I have seen info here describing how to reach up from under the dash to get to it, but I believe that information is for a <=2006 XK, and that it is not valid for a 2007+. The gaps are simply too small for anyone to reach through to the device. I have tried to remove the lower panel but can't figure it out.
I removed the lowest (furry) ceiling plate over the pedals. Then there are two torx bolts. Then I removed the leftmost panel and another bolt behind there. From this point, I'm stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

I've moved this thread from XK8/XKR to the XK section.

Owners here should be able to answer your question.

The trim panel that goes around the top of the steering column (the one with the little vent on one side) is held on by four clips and pulls off, apparently.

Instructions for the lower panel and sensor are attached. Hope they help.

Is this that part that causes a buzzing sound when the car is off that people complain about in the other thread? I did not know it was so simple to repair!

Yes, this is the part that causes the noise. However, be warned that there are mixed results as to effectiveness of repair/replacement.
